Little by little math experts in Europe were learning Arabic numbers from Islamic math experts. The first of these experts was Adelard of Bath, from England, who followed the First Crusade to the Fatimid Empire in the early 1100s and learned Greek and Arabic mathematics there. Arabic is the numbers 0-9. The best scientists were in the Islamic Empire. Greek was the primary language of science.
